Portable EXE bundles QuickStep viewer and model data and does not require installation. - Fixed DirectX version lighting issues with large scale models. - Increased memory limits of single STEP Shape/Part up to 600000 vertices and 1000000 polygons - Improved large dataset support for integrated display adapters (mainly Intel GMA) - Fixed unexpected errors that happened during model parsing especially in DirectX version - Fixed crashing issue with the latest 3DxWare 3D Mouse drivers - Fixed issue that caused selected components displaying incorrectly during section view CadFaster|QuickStep 2009 R2 - Changed HLR display to use white background - Adjusted fly mode sensitivity for easier navigation - Corrected bug in Fit All functionality that caused components to disappear - Corrected bug in Section View that caused artifacts while adjusting section plane in fly mode - Added message dialog in license manager that asks to restart QuickStep after changing license CadFaster|QuickStep 2009 R1 - Totally renewed user interface with customizable skins - New license policy and options - Fly mode navigation - 3D DWG and DXF file support - 3D IGES file support CadFaster|QuickStep 2008 R3 - Updated CadFaster|Engine architecture - Improved performance of highly featured assemblies - Improved compatibility for various HSF-file dialects - Improved support for STEP files containing incomplete tags - Improved functionality and performance of Face/Feature level selections - Face/Feature level materials in DX-version - Show/Hide background button in toolbar - Support for 3DConnexion (www.3dconnexion.com) 3D mouses in registered version - Improved out-of-core rendering for XP and Vista: even bigger models can be opened in limited video memory conditions CadFaster|QuickStep 2008 R2: - Minor bugs fixed: fit all in DirectX, registration key dialog, etc. - STEP parsing can now handle compounds without geometry - Support for face level materials restored - Fixed issue that caused parsing of complex meshes with face level materials to fail CadFaster|QuickStep 2008 R1: - Free and registered versions available for different user segments - Section planes adnd section view support in registered version - Corrected bugs in STEP file parsing that caused parsing to fail with models containing multi-color parts - Better support for HSF-files exported from various CAD systems - Performance improvements for large scale models (e.g. terrain and building models) - Decreased memory footprint with complex models CadFaster|QuickStep 2007 R21: - Added "Copy screen capture to clipboard" functionality and new toolbar button for that - Greatly improved the memory management and decreased the memory footprint of large datasets CadFaster|QuickStep 2007 R20: - Corrected bug that preveted using QuickStep in WinXP as standard user - Corrected bug in DirectX renderer that caused "Fit All" to work incorrectly CadFaster|QuickStep 2007 R18: - Improved STEP file format support: - STEP files exported from CATIA can now be opened - STEP files from various WWW-catalogs can now be opened - Transparent component tree contains more STEP information - QuickStep can be now used without administrator priviledges - Decreased memory footprint while loading and viewing large model files - Rotation speed is now adjusted by the view scale: while zoomed in, rotation is slower - Statistics display now shows the amount of display memory used - Picking performance has been improved - HSFBRIDGE now supports loading HSF-files with reflective and bump-mapped materials - Several minor bugs fixed CadFaster|QuickStep 2007 R17: - DirectX renderer now supports software and mixed devices (e.g. integrated graphics chipsets) - STEP file bridge supports larger polygon counts for individual parts (up. to 300 KTris/part) - Corrected Installer issue (missing system DLL on some OS versions) - Corrected several other bugs and issues: - Picking selection caused error dialog in certain STEP file (DirectX) - Assembly tree doesn't work properly in small window (DirectX) - Typo in statistics paragraph - Certain STEP file doesn't open: says too much triangles - Vista UAC failure during QuickStep installation - QuickStep installation doesn't say anything about already installed version - Components with reflective material cannot be picked i.e. selected with mouse (OpenGL) - Instable hibernate/standby modes with QuickStep - When app starts toolbar says perspective even model is in ortho - Invalid toolbar helps on the statusbar - Statistics display flickers and text items are not always visible (DirectX) CadFaster|QuickStep 2007 R9: - DirectX based renderer (users may choose between DirectX and OpenGL renderers) - Improved Windows Vista compatibility and performance - QuickStep Preferences dialog which can be used to select the suitable renderer - Improved feature tree (tree items now have a semi-transparent background) - Support for surfaces and two-sided materials Former releases: - Corrected certain STEP file loading issue - Corrected rotation center point issue with certain models - Added support for transparent reflective materials (Requires hardware shader support, open apache.hsf to see this feature in action) Notes on Installation ===================== - Ensure that you have administrator when installing QuickStep. Installation typically fails if you do not have enough access to the system registry. This is because installer uses regsvr32.exe application to register CadFaster|QuickStep components. - You should allow CadFaster|QuickStep to make its file associations. Otherwise provided sample files may not work correctly. However, if you do not allow installer to make the file associations, you may use CadFaster|QuickStep from command line. Command line Behavior --------------------- - QuickStep can be launched from command line by giving the requested file path as a parameter. Command line argument can be a file location or an URL: QuickStep C:\models\sample_model.step or QuickStep http://www.yourdomain.com/test_model.hsf System Requirements: -------------------- - 50 MB hard disk space - 256 MB physical memory - Pentium-level processor - Display adapter that supports hardware OpenGL 1.5+ or DirectX 9.0+ Report Bugs & Issues -------------------- Please report all bugs and issues into www.cadfaster.com/support or directly to support@cadfaster.com. This application may contain bugs and issues. We encourage all users to feel entitled and welcome to report issues that may arise on your particular platform. Energetic reporting of issues is one of the most important contributions that users can make to the ongoing development and improvement of the software.
